Harare: © Dr. Pierrette Herzberger-Fofana, MEP The European Union deployed an Election Observation Mission (EOM) composed from 150 observers and 7 Members of the European Parliament at the invitation of the Zimbabwean authorities to cover all parts of the country. These were the second elections held in the country of 16 million since independence in 1980. Nigerian senators have received their “holiday token” allowance as directed by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio. The controversial directive which has incensed Nigerians and has dominated the social media was earlier denied by the Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja, Ireti Kingibe.
