The political support movement, Friends of Kenneth Gbandi (FoKG), has inaugurated its Delta North–wide mobilization committee, bringing together Local Government Area (LGA) and Ward Coordinators in what organizers describe as a strategic step toward strengthening grassroots political engagement across the Anioma region.
The inaugural meeting marked the first formal gathering of the FoKG grassroots leadership structure, with coordinators drawn from the nine LGAs of Delta North in attendance. The session focused on consolidating the organization’s operational structure, refining its mobilization strategy, and accelerating the digital registration of members as preparations intensify for the evolving political process.
In his opening remarks, Hon. Kenneth Chibuogwu Gbandi welcomed the coordinators and commended them for accepting the responsibility of mobilizing support within their respective communities. He emphasized that unity, discipline, and early organization would be critical in building a credible and effective grassroots movement capable of engaging citizens across wards and polling units.
Participants subsequently introduced themselves, stating their names, LGAs, wards, and responsibilities within the FoKG structure. The introduction session helped coordinators familiarize themselves with one another while reinforcing a spirit of teamwork and collective responsibility within the organization.
During the meeting, the FoKG operational framework spanning the Directorate level down to LGA, Ward, and Polling Unit coordinators was presented and discussed. Coordinators were encouraged to immediately begin consolidating their teams at the ward and polling unit levels to ensure comprehensive coverage across the constituency. Organizers noted that the structure is designed to promote efficient communication, coordinated mobilization, and stronger grassroots engagement.
A major highlight of the meeting was the rollout of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) digital registration platform. Coordinators were urged to intensify efforts in registering supporters and volunteers within their respective areas of responsibility. Given the limited time window available, participants agreed that digital registration must be treated as a top priority. Regular updates on registration figures were also recommended as a way to motivate coordinators and track progress across LGAs and wards.
Several operational challenges were also discussed. Participants raised concerns about poor network connectivity in some rural communities, which could hinder digital registration efforts. To address this, coordinators were encouraged to adopt practical solutions, including establishing centralized registration points and implementing offline coordination strategies where internet access remains limited.
The issue of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) was also highlighted as a critical factor in strengthening voter participation. Participants recommended working closely with party structures and exploring engagement with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to encourage voter registration and PVC collection among supporters within the constituency.
At the conclusion of the meeting, members unanimously adopted a twin strategic approach moving forward. The first is to focus on building and strengthening the FoKG grassroots structure across LGAs, wards, and polling units in order to effectively position the movement for success during the party primaries. The second is to begin preparations for the eventual transition of FoKG into a fully fledged campaign support platform for the state chapter of the ADC once the official campaign phase begins.
Members were also encouraged to maintain regular communication and share best practices with one another to strengthen coordination and improve mobilization efforts across all levels of the organization. The meeting ended with a renewed commitment from coordinators to work collectively toward building a strong grassroots movement for Hon. Kenneth Gbandi, followed by a closing prayer delivered by Ms. Fiona.
