Congratulation President Muhammadu Buhari

Now is the time for NIDO to unite on Issues Important to the Diaspora

NIDO Germany wishes to congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari, the new President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed forces Federal Republic of Nigeria. We also wish to congratulate all elected National Assembly members and the entire individuals and organizations that took part in the historic democratic process in Nigeria.

The Nigerian Presidential and general election 2015 were no doubt keenly contested. Nigerians from different political spectrum were at their best to promote candidates of their convictions. Members of the Diaspora were not left out, as they were on ground, social media and in their respective countries of residence playing the civic role for democracy in Nigeria. It was a bitter – sweet fight for democracy but now it is time to close the gaps and join hands with President Muhammadu Buhari in the task of nation building, which is a continuous enterprise.

Now is also the right time for the Diaspora to unite around the common issues that are very fundamental to the Diaspora, namely; Good governance, the Diaspora voting Right and Diaspora Commission. Nobody needs to contest the value of the Nigerian Diaspora any longer, considering their roles in the just concluded successful election process and national political development in Nigeria. Using our political tools of persuasion our collective goal is to work at getting the Nigerian Senate to follow the House of Representatives by passing the Diaspora Commission bill and commence work on the approval of the Diaspora Voting Right bill. This work is entrenched within the activities of all Diaspora groups especially NIDO and ANID.

We also greatly appreciate the statesmanship of your predecessor; Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, for respecting the democratic will of Nigerians.

We at NIDO Germany appeal to our Diaspora compatriots irrespective of their political affiliation to close ranks and support President Muhammadu Buhari on the important and serious task of nation building.

Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria

Long Live NIDO Germany

Long Live Federal Republic of Germany

Hon. Kenneth Gbandi                                 Prof. Dr. Brando Okolo

President NIDO Germany                             General Secretary NIDO Germany
