African Nation Builders proudly congratulates Dr. rer. nat. Karamba Diaby on his distinguished appointment as Honorary Professor of Intercultural Communication and Democracy Education at Hochschule Merseburg, Germany.
The appointment, formally conferred on 23 September 2026 following a resolution of the University Senate on 27 August 2026, is a well-deserved recognition of Prof. Diaby’s outstanding contributions to education, democratic development, intercultural dialogue, integration and public service.
Born in Marsassoum, Senegal, Prof. Diaby pursued his academic journey from the University of Dakar to Germany, where he studied chemistry at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and later obtained his doctorate. His remarkable life story reflects perseverance, intellectual excellence and the transformative power of education.
From 2013 to 2025, he served as a Member of the German Bundestag, representing Halle in the federal parliament. During his parliamentary career, he contributed significantly to national and international deliberations on education, research, foreign affairs, economic cooperation, global health and Africa-Germany relations. He also chaired the Bundestag Parliamentary Friendship Group for West Africa and led the Africa Discussion Group of the Social Democratic Party’s parliamentary caucus. (bundestag.de)
