As political momentum continues to build across Delta North, the Friends of Kenneth Gbandi (FoKG) political support movement has appointed US–Nigeria based community leader, Ogbuenyi Kanayo Gbemudu, as the Director-General (DG) of its Delta North–wide mobilization structure.
The appointment follows the recent inauguration of FoKG’s grassroots leadership framework across the nine Local Government Areas of Delta North, a step observers say is strengthening citizen engagement and grassroots political participation across the Anioma region.
Beyond the administrative significance, the development reflects a growing shift in Nigeria’s leadership culture one that increasingly combines global leadership exposure with grassroots political awareness. More Nigerians in the diaspora are showing interest in contributing not only to economic development but also to the country’s political and democratic growth.
Within the FoKG structure, the Director-General plays a central role in coordinating mobilization across LGAs and wards, supporting local coordinators, and ensuring that the movement remains connected to the everyday concerns of communities.
Ogbuenyi Kanayo Gbemudu is widely recognized as a community-focused leader whose work spans healthcare, education, and empowerment initiatives. Despite his international exposure, he remains deeply rooted in grassroots realities and has built strong relationships across communities in Delta State.
Supporters say his leadership reflects a practical understanding of the struggles faced by ordinary Nigerians and a commitment to expanding opportunities and strengthening community support systems.
For the FoKG movement, his appointment represents a deliberate effort to place community credibility, grassroots experience, and service-oriented leadership at the center of its mobilization strategy.
As FoKG continues to expand its presence across Delta North, the appointment of Ogbuenyi Kanayo Gbemudu is expected to strengthen the movement’s structure and deepen its connection with communities throughout the Anioma region.
For many observers, the development signals the rise of a civic-driven political movement that seeks to combine diaspora experience with grassroots organization, bringing together community leaders and citizens committed to shaping a more responsive and inclusive political future for Anioma and Nigeria.
