As political alliances realign and coalition talks intensify ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is emerging at the center of a potentially historic transformation. In his monthly media chat from his office in Hamburg, Germany, Hon. Kenneth Chibuogwu Gbandi, former Senatorial candidate for Delta North and leader of the ADC Diaspora Network (7th Geopolitical Zone), addressed these developments with measured optimism and a call to action.
The political airwaves have been abuzz with reports that prominent figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai have all reportedly adopted ADC as the common platform for a new opposition coalition. To many, this signals the birth of a serious, unified alternative ahead of 2027.
“We welcome all honest political actors who truly believe in a new Nigeria. To our political brothers in Delta State and the entire South-South who have found themselves politically homeless through no fault of theirs, now is the time to come home to ADC the party that stands on principles, grassroots engagement, and inclusive governance,” Hon. Gbandi stated.
He expressed particular concern over the erosion of grassroots influence in Delta State, saying, “It was disheartening to watch my state go to bed as PDP and wake up as APC, with no consultation or voice given to the people. Politics should never be a game of elite defection but a tool of the people for shaping their destiny.”
From the heart of Germany, Hon. Gbandi has consistently promoted the ADC as a principled political movement, one driven not by opportunism, but by vision, integrity, and a desire to build a just, inclusive, and truly federal Nigeria. “I have been laughed at for not joining PDP, mocked for not jumping on the Labour Party bandwagon, and cajoled to join the ruling APC. But when you’re guided by conviction, not convenience, you don’t make decisions to fit in, you make them to stand out,” he affirmed.
The ADC Diaspora Network will soon convene a Townhall Meeting to deliberate and contribute constructively to the coalition discussion and broader national transformation agenda.
Quoting his ally and elder statesman Alhaji Yahaya Ndu, Gbandi echoed the urgent need for national political reawakening: “Anyone truly observing Nigeria’s democratic trajectory knows that unless we sensitize and mobilizeNigerians now, the promise of credible elections in 2027 may remain an illusion. Good governance must be entrenched before elections, not hoped for after results.”
Gbandi emphasized that ADC is the only political party with structural recognition of the Diaspora as a full geopolitical zone, a testament to its forward-thinking model. “ADC remains the home of Nigeria’s youth, Diaspora, women, and every citizen who believes in a new national direction. It is the bridge between competence and conscience, between policy and people.”
As Nigeria approaches a political crossroads, Hon. Gbandi’s message is loud and clear:
“The African Democratic Congress is not just a party, it is a platform. A platform for restoration, responsibility, and the rebirth of Nigeria. Now is the time to join hands and build the country we all deserve.”
