Hon. Gbandi, the Deputy National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress Party of Nigeria and a senatorial candidate in Delta North for the 2023 general election, congratulated Omoyele Sowore, the Human Rights Activist and AAC party Presidential candidate, on the withdrawal of the treason case against him. He hailed it as a step in the right direction.

Hon. Gbandi’s congratulatory’a statement was made known to the media during a press briefing in Asaba by OBA’N’LA Bright, SSA Media & Special Duties to Hon. Kenneth Gbandi.

In a noteworthy development, the Nigerian government, led by President Tinubu, has opted to discontinue the treason case, as confirmed by a Notice of Discontinuance officially stamped by the Federal High Court in Abuja. The document was signed by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).

Hon. Gbandi, through his media aide, revealed that in light of this development and considering the current challenging situation in the country, Nigeria requires focused and constructive engagements for sincere restructuring. This includes constitutional reform, Security Sector Reform, and political reform, aiming for an equal, fair, just, and strong united Federal Republic of Nigeria. Anything less is merely a postponement of the doomsday.

Hon. Gbandi concluded that this decision is a testament to the fact that political intimidation, bad governance, and corruption cannot replace the commitment to upholding justice and the rule of law in Nigeria. There are individuals like Omoyele Sowore who are ready to give their lives for what they believe in.
