The National Bureau of Statistics reports that the 36 states of the Federation & the FCT recorded N1.89 trillion in internally generated revenue (IGR) in 2021, which grew from N1.56 trillion the penultimate year.

Further analysis showed that Lagos state (predictably) contributed N753.3 billion. Delta state came a distant 5th behind the FCT, Rivers, Ogun states, pulling in N80.2 billion in revenue.

These indices show that Delta state needs, not just a short term economic stimulus, but a sustainable investment roadmap through which we can harness our vast natural & human potential.

Let’s talk power and investments.

In 2018, as Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora NIDO Europe, Kenneth Gbandi & his technical partners proposed a 500MW electrical plant(s) run by hybrid generation technology, to be sited in multiple strategic locations as close as possible to the existing power grids & substations across Delta state, generating uninterrupted & completely green energy at zero cost to the Delta State Government. Sadly, top officials with vested interests shut it down.

Kenneth Gbandi also proposed to the Delta State Government, a liaison office in Europe at no cost, to aid our local economy in trade, tourism and investment, providing a meeting hub for regular business interactions with captains of industries, innovative consultants and angel investors from across the globe, to fast-track value transfer & economic activity necessary for sustainable homeland development. Again, the current state government predictably said NO.

So the question is…

If Delta State doesn’t want power, or new investment alliances which include agriculture, solar tech transfer, iT, affordable housing or broadband connectivity, which are non-negotiable infrastructure for 21st century economic growth, how do our local small businesses thrive & what other viable options are we left with?

Kenneth Chibuogwu Gbandi, Senatorial Candidate of the African Democratic Congress Delta North, is a bundle of global solutions driven by a heart for his Anioma people. He’s exactly who we need to represent our interest.

No talk say I no update you
