Happy Birthday, Chief James Onanefe Ibori!

On behalf of myself, my family, and associates at home and in the Diaspora, I extend warm and heartfelt congratulations to you on this special day as you celebrate another glorious year of life and legacy.

Your tenure as the Executive Governor of Delta State from 1999 to 2007 remains a defining chapter in the political and developmental history of our dear state. As one of the architects of modern Delta, you boldly laid the foundation for sustainable development at a time when our democracy was just emerging from military rule. Under your leadership, Delta State witnessed the expansion of infrastructure, the creation of new institutions, the enhancement of inter-ethnic unity, and the empowerment of youth and women across our diverse communities. You championed a vision of inclusivity and development that continues to shape the aspirations of present and future generations.

Your role in the advocacy for resource control gave voice to the Niger Delta’s long-standing demands for equity and justice, reinforcing the importance of federalism and economic empowerment for oil-producing communities. This legacy continues to inspire progressive governance across the region.

As we forge ahead in building a more prosperous, secure, and united Delta State, we draw inspiration from the courageous steps you took, the bold ideas you pursued, and the vision you cast. Today, many of us  leaders, technocrats, and Diaspora advocates stand on the platform you helped create, determined to advance the ideals of good governance, grassroots development, and strategic transformation.

May this new chapter of your life bring renewed strength, good health, and the continued grace of God. Your place in Delta’s history is secure, and we celebrate not just your birthday but your lasting contributions to our collective story.

Happy Birthday, Your Excellency!

Warmest regards,

Hon. Kenneth Chibuogwu Gbandi, former Senatorial Candidate, Delta North; Continental Chairman, NIDO Europe (2016–2020) Diaspora Advocate & Community Leader, ADC Diaspora & National leader
