As we mark 34 years of Delta State, I extend warm congratulations to the first office of the citizens of Delta State and salute our current leadership. This milestone is not only a moment of celebration but also a call to renewed selfless service to our people.
The political climate across our nation demands from us audacity of hope, unity of purpose, and courage. Over these 34 years, Delta has recorded remarkable progress, thanks to the vision and sacrifices of our leaders. I pay tribute to Gov. Felix Ibru, Gov. James Onanefe Ibori, Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa, and our current Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
We also celebrate our heroes past and present: Pa Clark (of blessed memory), Chief (Dr.) Newton Jibunor, Justice Agbamuche (of blessed memory), Hon. Joan Onyemaechi, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Prof. Pat Utomi, and many more, whose global and national contributions remain our pride. Their legacies remind us that Delta’s governance must reflect the immense potential of our people. Only then can we achieve our collective dream of a Delta and indeed a Nigeria where every citizen is treated with dignity and equal opportunity to attain their God-given potential.
At 34, Delta has all it takes to stand among the best states in the world. The time to act is now.
