African Heritage, Lagos 28 Nov. 2025
Hon. Dr. Kenneth Chibuogwu Gbandi, Diaspora Leader and ADC chieftain who recently chaired the highly successful Coalition Unveiling Committee of the Delta State ADC, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the members and leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Edo State on the landmark defection of Senator Ehigie Uzamare.
Speaking from Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, where he served as a panelist alongside Michel Deelen, Consul General of The Netherlands, at the business dialogue “Debunking Notions, Reshaping Mindsets in Doing Business with Africa” organized by The Voice Achievers Award 2025, Dr. Gbandi noted that this development is far more than another political shift. It is, in his words, a powerful affirmation of the quiet, steady work reform-minded patriots have been championing within the ADC—an awakening sweeping across the nation that prioritizes integrity, service, and national interest above the old culture of transactional politics under the leadership of His Excellency, David Mark and H.E. Ogbeni Rauf Oregbesola,National Secretary, ADC.
Senator Ehigie Uzamare, a towering political figure representing Edo South, formally severed ties with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and announced his decision to join the ADC, describing the move as an act of patriotism. His declaration, rooted in a renewed commitment to principled and service-driven leadership, aligns firmly with the values Dr. Gbandi has long articulated both in Nigeria and in the Diaspora: leadership grounded in accountability, vision, and national progress not partisan entitlement.
Dr. Gbandi, speaking with a blend of gratitude and conviction, described Senator Uzamare’s decision as “a watershed moment that reinforces the growing belief that Nigeria’s political future will be shaped by men and women who choose conscience over convenience.”
He emphasized that ADC Edo State deserves commendation for providing a credible and attractive political home to visionaries prepared to rebuild trust in governance. He also praised the national leadership for sustaining a welcoming platform that continues to draw statesmen who still believe in Nigeria’s better possibilities.
Political analysts agree that the Senator’s defection represents a significant boost for the ADC, which has in recent months experienced remarkable and strategic growth. As the party positions itself as a formidable force ahead of the 2027 general elections, Uzamare’s entry is widely expected to spark further realignments particularly among leaders dissatisfied with the status quo.
Reflecting personally, Dr. Gbandi remarked that this moment brings renewed hope to Nigerians who still believe that politics must serve as a tool for development rather than self-preservation. “What we are witnessing,” he said, “is not just a defection, it is the beginning of a national reawakening.”
With Senator Uzamare now joining the ADC fold, and with influential figures across the federation recalibrating their political positions, the African Democratic Congress stands on the cusp of a new chapter defined by purposeful leadership and a revitalized commitment to nation-building. Dr. Gbandi further called on patriotic sons and daughters of Delta State to follow Senator Uzamare’s example and align with the Delta State ADC in this renewed journey toward national transformation.
