In a firm and strongly worded communication, the Delta State Leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has moved to quell what it describes as a wave of desperate and unlawful activities aimed at destabilizing the party’s structure in the state. The statement, issued under the authority of the State Chairman, Engr. Austine C. Okolie, follows growing concerns over individuals who have recently begun parading themselves as emissaries of the National Leadership while claiming to possess powers to announce or compile a so-called new list of the ADC Delta State Executive.

According to the release, the behaviour of these actors is not only misleading but constitutes a blatant attempt to misinform the public and sow confusion within the party. The statement emphasized that the ADC National Leadership, under Senator David Alechenu Bonaventure Mark GCON, neither recognizes nor endorses these individuals and repudiates any illegal scheme to create a parallel structure anywhere across the federation, especially in Delta State. The party described all such claims as fraudulent, illegitimate, and intended to derail the unity and progress the Delta structure has achieved in recent months.

The ADC warned members of the public, party loyalists, and supporters across the state to avoid any interactions with these unauthorized persons, stressing that their activities are targeted at weakening the party rather than strengthening it. The leadership reiterated that those currently attempting to create division are not acting on behalf of the ADC but against it.

In reaffirming its internal rules, the party restated that all intending members, particularly coalition partners, are required to resign from their former political parties and officially register at their respective wards to be recognized as genuine members of the ADC. The statement noted that no one can claim membership of a political party they have not formally joined, insisting that resistance to this straightforward democratic process reveals ulterior motives that run contrary to the party’s values and legal frameworks.

The release further clarified that the ADC National Leadership has not sanctioned or created any parallel executive in Delta State or in any other part of the country. The recognized structure of the ADC in Delta State remains intact, active, cohesive, and fully operational. All coalition members were urged to integrate harmoniously into the existing framework pending the conduct of the forthcoming party congresses.

In a related development, the ADC also announced an official change of address for its State Secretariat. The donor of the former Secretariat, Mr. Fred Akpewe, has reclaimed the facility he previously provided. Consequently, the new and fully operational Secretariat of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Delta State, is now located at No. 49 Okpanam Road, by DBS Junction, Asaba. The party confirmed that this location will serve as its administrative base while efforts continue toward establishing a more befitting permanent headquarters.

Concluding its statement, the ADC Delta State Leadership affirmed its readiness to remain steadfast in the face of distractions. The party maintained that it will not be intimidated, infiltrated, or derailed from its mission to rebuild and reposition itself for credible and transparent democratic engagement. With renewed resolve, the statement ended with a rallying call to members and supporters: “ADC – Arise and Shine, Nigeria!”

Signed:

Engr. Austine C. Okolie, State Chairman, African Democratic Congress (ADC), Delta State
