Diaspora 7th Zone – I salute the courageous people of Osun State for rekindling the nation’s democratic spirit and proving that the organized power of the people remains vastly superior to the institutional power of incumbency.
The victory of the Accord Party over the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun amplifies a central truth for our republic: the ruling party is not invincible. When citizens are united, determined, and vigilant, the status quo can be defeated. Our voices matter. Our votes count. The democratic process functions when citizens refuse to be sidelined, showing up to cast their ballots, remaining at polling stations, monitoring the collation process, and lawfully defending every single vote.
Osun offers a crucial directive to Nigeria’s opposition ahead of 2027: unity of purpose is non-negotiable. When opposition forces, democratic institutions, and ordinary citizens align, no incumbent political machinery can suppress the popular will.
Nigeria’s democracy has long lingered in critical care, fragile and tested. Yet the people of Osun have provided the blueprint for its revival through active participation, civic courage, and relentless collective determination.
This victory transcends any single candidate or political platform. It belongs to every Nigerian who maintains faith that national leadership can still be transformed peacefully through the ballot box.
To the people of Osun State: congratulations. You have renewed our national hope and reminded Nigeria that when the people organize and protect their votes, democracy can breathe again.
