Hon. Kenneth Chibuogwu Gbandi, prominent Nigerian Diaspora leader, former Senatorial candidate, and a long-standing advocate for good governance and diaspora inclusion, has issued a decisive 14-day legal ultimatum to Mr. Sylvester Maver Avworo over what his legal team describes as a “malicious, fabricated, and reputation-destroying” publication circulated on the ADC Delta State Official WhatsApp platform.

The pre-action notice, delivered by his counsel, M.O. Ogbodu Esq., demands an unconditional written apology, a full retraction across all channels where the defamatory content was disseminated, and the immediate payment of ₦100 million in damages. The notice leaves no ambiguity: failure to comply will result in a lawsuit seeking ₦1 billion in exemplary and punitive damages.

Documents reviewed by this reporter indicate that Avworo’s publication contained a string of vulgar, unfounded, and personally injurious allegations deliberately aimed at tarnishing Hon. Gbandi’s political, professional, marital, and social reputation. The defamatory statements, circulated to more than 1,000 party members, political stakeholders, community leaders, and the general public, were described as “recklessly concocted, injurious, and calculated to incite public contempt, ridicule, and hostility.”

Hon. Gbandi’s legal counsel noted that the false claims not only attacked his personal dignity but attempted to undermine the decades of integrity, leadership, community service, and credible public engagement he has built across Nigeria, Europe, and the diaspora. They stressed that such malicious conduct represents a direct assault on democratic discourse and accountability, warning that any further defamatory statements from Avworo or his associates will trigger immediate civil and potentially criminal proceedings.

In a strongly worded reaction, Gbandi’s Media Team stated that this development serves as a clear public notice: coordinated falsehoods, character assassination, political blackmail, and the weaponization of misinformation against Hon. Kenneth Gbandi will be met with the full force of the law going forward. The statement added that the era of “reckless attacks aimed at scoring cheap political points” is over, and that no individual will be permitted to distort facts or malign a leader whose record remains publicly verifiable.
