Press statement from the continental executive of ADC-Diaspora Network Arising from the Emergency Meeting of 7th August 2025 of ADC-DN leadership of Africa, the Americas, Europe, Asia/Middle East, Oceania and ADC-DN central executive

As the African Democratic Congress (ADC) courageously embarks on a transformative journey to build a people-driven coalition for a new Nigeria, the ADC-Diaspora Network (ADC-DN) stands inspired by a profound sense of optimism and conviction. Across the global Nigerian Diaspora, there is a rising wave of enthusiasm, commitment, and readiness,  not merely to participate, but to lead with vision, integrity, and purpose in co-authoring a new democratic narrative worthy of Nigeria’s promise and potential.

With the emergence of a broad-based ADC-led coalition under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator David Mark and the current National Working Committee, the ADC is repositioning itself as a national movement anchored on inclusion, vision, and integrity. The Diaspora long a crucial partner in Nigeria’s development is not an afterthought in this process, but an essential pillar.

Let it be clearly stated: Article 15 of the ADC Constitution explicitly recognizes and institutionalizes the ADC-Diaspora Network (ADC-DN) as a formal component of the party’s structure, headed by a Deputy National Chairman (Diaspora). This provides a solid legal and constitutional foundation for the continued relevance, legitimacy, and operations of ADC-DN worldwide.

Furthermore, the recent strengthening of Article 15 and the creation of National Vice Chairmen (Diaspora) for each of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones marks a bold step in mainstreaming Diaspora participation in party politics and national development.

As the new executive team unfolds its strategic vision, we are confident that a comprehensive Diaspora engagement framework will soon be unveiled consolidating progress and defining clearer pathways for Diaspora involvement at political, economic, and civic levels.

In the interim, and to ensure institutional continuity and compliance with host country regulations, the ADC-DN under the leadership of Hon. (Dr.) Kenneth Gbandi strongly advises that current ADC-DN leadership in Africa, the Americas, Europe, Asia/Middle East, and Oceania should continue to function and discharge their responsibilities until further directives. This will prevent leadership vacuums, maintain credibility, and safeguard the legal standing of the party’s Diaspora structures until the ongoing structural review is concluded to align the duties of the Deputy National Chairman (Diaspora) and the new six-geopolitical-zone framework.

We also acknowledge the growing number of Diaspora professionals, political groups, and support networks reaching out to join the ADC-DN and the New Nigeria Project under the ADC-led coalition. Your energy, ideas, and commitment are needed now more than ever. In doing so, we encourage all to abide by the directive of our distinguished National Chairman, His Excellency, Senator David Mark to avoid activities that could be deemed as anti-party, insubordination, or party structure grabbing.

The future of Nigeria no doubt will be shaped not only in Abuja but also in Berlin, London, Toronto, Houston, Johannesburg, Kuala Lumpur and every corner of the global Nigerian community. We have the capacity, resources, and will, now we must ensure unity of purpose and institutional discipline. Together, let us build a truly inclusive political movement where every Nigerian, at home or abroad, has a voice in shaping our shared national destiny.

To be part of ADC-DN in Africa, the Americas, Europe, Asia/Middle East, and Oceania, contact the leadership in your respective continent or the ADC-DN Headquarters.

Signed,
Chief Amb. Toni Tuklan; Secretary, ADC-DN (Global)
