Dr. Osita Aniemeka is a distinguished communications professional, climate change advocate, and a leader in sustainable development. Born on August 19, he is a proud alumnus of the Jackson Grad School (1989).

With a PhD in Communication and Entrepreneurial Leadership, his work focuses on connecting communities with the hyperlocal grand designs and master plans they need to navigate their future.

A true entrepreneur and leader, Dr. Aniemeka holds several prominent positions. He is the Chairman of ACCOMPLISH Magazine, the African Development Journal, and the President of the Sub Saharan Open University, the African disruptive learning community. He also serves as CEO of the International Center for Development Affairs (ICDA), which is the implementing agency for the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Entrepreneurship Development Centres. Additionally, he is the Chairman of YOUTHGETHER Global, the African League of Youths in Development (ALOYD), aligning with the United Nations Decade of Action.

With a rich background in academia, Dr. Aniemeka was a Full-time Faculty and the Director of the Center for Learning Communities at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) University. His extensive experience includes working with major international organizations such as WWF, USAID, DFID, UNDP, and the Nigeria Development Gateway Collaborative. He was also a member of the Global Steering Committee of the NGO Working Group on the World Bank and was named Man of the Year 2002 by the American Bibliographical Institute.

In 2021, in response to the high rate of youth unemployment in Nigeria which had fueled insurgency, kidnapping, and other social vices, as well as driven many young Nigerians into risky and irregular migration across the Mediterranean Sea in search of greener pastures in Europe he initiated a landmark program to build the knowledge and technical capacity of young people in Nigeria.

This initiative, carried out in partnership with the African-German Information Center led by Hon. Kenneth Gbandi, the 2023 senatorial candidate, aimed to empower young people to establish sustainable businesses and gain meaningful employment. The project was designed to contribute to multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): advancing quality entrepreneurship education (SDG 4), fostering decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), reducing poverty (SDG 1), improving food security (SDG 2), and discouraging irregular migration.

Dr. Aniemeka’s career spans broadcasting, publishing, and public-private partnerships in both the United States and Nigeria. He was a Ford Foundation Scholar-in-Residence at North Dakota State University, Fargo. Osita is a United Nations GEPS Special Envoy, and a Climate Action Professional (CAP). He’s a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Mentoring and Coaching Nigeria (FPMC), and a Fellow of the Academy of Management Science (FMSc).
