The evolving political landscape in Nigeria continues to underscore the strategic importance of coalition-building, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is emerging as one of the most dynamic players on this front. At both national and state levels, the ADC’s coalition development is gaining momentum and few embody this synergy of vision and strategy more than Hon. Kenneth Gbandi, a seasoned Diaspora leader and national figure whose roots remain firmly planted in Delta North.
Delta North Strategic Meeting: A Call for Unity and Focus
At a recent strategic meeting convened by the Vice Chairman of ADC Delta North, Hon. Lady Chinwe Ejidoh, as a follow-up to an emergency session called by the Delta State Chairman, Engr. Austin Okolie, stakeholders gathered to address the emerging realities of coalition politics in the state.
Hon. Gbandi, serving as both a Diaspora and national leader of the ADC, delivered a clear and deliberate message: unity, focus, and unwavering commitment to the party’s values are paramount. He reiterated that the ADC remains open to all individuals who identify with the “ADC DNA”, a shared vision of building a better Nigeria and a better Delta State.
However, he also reminded the gathering of the guidance issued by the ADC National Chairman: welcoming new members must follow the structures and agreements laid out within the coalition framework. Any form of insubordination or anti-party activities, whether at the national or state level, will be met with firm resistance. “The majority of stakeholders who have worked tirelessly to build and sustain this party stand with our National Chairman’s position that any attempt at a ‘party grab,’ acts of insubordination, or anti-party behavior will be confronted head-on,” Gbandi affirmed. He thanked the leadership of ADC Delta State, the Chairman, the VCs, the LGA and ward Chairs and all members for holding on to ADC and commend the Delta North event anchor person, Diji Ikechukwu Patrick.
Strengthening the Coalition: The AA–ADC Merger in Delta State
This emphasis on discipline and structure came on the heels of a significant political development. On 8th August 2025, Hon. Gbandi joined State Chairman Engr. Okolie to formally welcome an overwhelming majority of the Action Alliance (AA) Delta State Executive, led by former AA National Women Leader, Hon. Esther Esevohare, into the ADC fold.
The reception was a symbolic and strategic moment for the coalition, strengthening ADC’s base ahead of future electoral engagements. Hon. Gbandi later accompanied the new members on a courtesy visit to former AA Delta State Leader and respected elder stateswoman, Nne Chief Mrs. Nelly Nwaka.
Merging Global Perspective with Local Political Realities
As Hon. Gbandi traverses Delta State, attending coalition strategy meetings and grassroots mobilization sessions, one truth remains evident: while politics is local, success requires the infusion of global best practices. His political experience spans both international and Nigerian contexts, giving him a rare vantage point to bridge the gap between global political standards and the complex realities on the ground in Delta State.
For Hon. Gbandi, coalition politics is not just about numbers it’s about alignment of values, operational discipline, and sustainable structures that will stand the test of Nigeria’s volatile political cycles.
With the ADC’s coalition machinery revving up across the country and gaining strength in Delta State, the message from the leadership is unambiguous: discipline, unity, and a shared commitment to the ADC DNA will be the foundation for building not only a stronger party but a stronger Nigeria.
