Asaba Delta State 25.10.2025: African Heritage political desk
In a well-attended General Assembly held in Asaba, the Delta State capital, on the 25th of October 2025, members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from all Local Government Areas and wards across the state gathered in unity to deliberate on the progress of the party and recent directives from the National Working Committee (NWC) on the management of the party pending congress. The Assembly provided an opportunity for the leadership to brief members on the new guidelines and the constitution of a leadership team to help the Executive steer the party’s affairs ahead of the forthcoming congress.
After extensive discussions and clarifications, the General Assembly, its first since the inauguration of the new NWC expressed satisfaction with the updates and activities of the state executive and unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the Engr. Austin-led State Executive. Delegates commended the leadership for its resilience, discipline, and grassroots engagement, which have kept the party vibrant and focused despite challenges within the political space. The decision reflected the delegates’ trust and satisfaction with the direction and integrity of the current leadership.
In a significant resolution, the Assembly appointed Hon. (Dr.) Kenneth Chibuogwu Gbandi as Chairman of the State Coalition Unveiling Committee, with Comrade Julius Akpoboka as Secretary. The appointment followed the presentation by Engr. Austin on the forthcoming coalition unveiling, scheduled for the 15th of November 2025, an event envisioned as a milestone in broadening ADC’s alliances in the state and reaffirming its role as a credible, citizen-driven political platform in Delta State and across Nigeria.
In his acceptance remarks, Hon. Dr. Gbandi expressed gratitude to the State Executive and the General Assembly for the confidence reposed in him and reaffirmed his commitment to reach out to all critical stakeholders to execute the assignment with openness, collaboration, and inclusiveness. He emphasized that the ADC is not a money-bag filled political party but a people’s movement built on integrity, shared vision, and collective responsibility.
“Every member is a stakeholder,” he said, “and therefore a co-financer of our collective dream. Our power lies not in amount of wealth, but in unity, sincerity, and purpose.”
He called for the full cooperation of all members and thanked key stakeholders who have remained supportive of the coalition project, urging them to continue working as one family to ensure the success of the upcoming coalition unveiling. According to him, the ADC remains a welcoming home for every Nigerian who believes in the possibility of national transformation through consistent engagement, values-driven leadership, and mutual respect.
Following the Assembly, Dr. Gbandi hosted the ADC State leadership and critical stakeholders at his country home in Asaba to thank them for their dedication and to further deliberate on planning and logistics for the November event. The atmosphere was one of renewed optimism and shared commitment, as leaders discussed strategies to ensure broad participation and seamless organization.
Hon. Dr. Gbandi, who also serves as the ADC Diaspora Leader and immediate past Deputy National Chairman for Diaspora Engagement, expressed strong confidence in the leadership of the Senate Mark-led National Executive. He praised the National Executive’s steadfastness and its efforts to consolidate and expand the party’s frontiers nationwide, noting that such proactive leadership reflects the wisdom, political maturity, and experience that once made Senator Mark one of Nigeria’s most respected Senate Presidents.
Dr. Gbandi also commended ADC National Leader, Chief Okey Nwosu, along with leaders and members at both the state and national levels, who continue to champion and uphold the core ideology of the party. He described them as “unsung heroes of political decency and vision,” urging them to remain steadfast and committed to the ideals of transparency, inclusiveness, and service to the people. He stressed that the ADC stands out today not because of its size or wealth, but because of the integrity and courage of its leadership and members who believe that a better Nigeria is possible.
The General Assembly concluded on a note of optimism and solidarity, with members reaffirming their commitment to the ADC’s people-first vision and collective purpose. The gathering also served as a reminder that the future of Nigeria will be shaped not by those who merely criticize from afar, but by those who step forward to build, engage, and transform their communities.
Now is the time for all members, supporters, and lovers of the ADC and indeed all who believe in the promise of a new Nigeria to rise in unity. Every contribution, every idea, and every act of service counts. Together, we can show that politics can be noble again, leadership can be honest again, and Nigeria can indeed work for all her citizens, Gbandi concluded
African Heritage political desk will continues to spotlight transformative initiatives that bridge the Diaspora and the homeland in pursuit of democratic accountability, civic empowerment, and national rebirth.
