NIDO WW leadership, paid a courtesy visit to the NASS on Thursday, 26th January 2017. The delegation shared with NASS and relevant agencies the role of NIDO in development and nation building while defining the Diaspora inclusion road map. The intercontinental NIDO WW delegation met with the Senate President Dr. Bukola Sariki, Hon Speaker of the House of Reps Rt Hon Dogara, distinguished senator Rose Okoh (Chairman Senate Committee on Diaspora Affairs), and Hon Barrister Rita Orji (Chairman, House Committee on Diaspora Affairs). The delegation further met with Debt Management Office (DMO) as well as with National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). The delegation discussed Diaspora Bond, Diaspora Commission, Diaspora Policy, Diaspora Voting Right, Diaspora Database, the Visa Waver, defining NIDO-NASS partnership, Diaspora Village, and Diaspora Day. In all these discussions the delegation emphasized the imperatives of harvesting the benefits of Diaspora inclusion and the consequences of Diaspora exclusion. All four continental NIDO organisations were fully and ably represented in the delegation. The Senate President and the Speaker gave their assurances that all the items discussed are in the interest of national development and that they will deployment the full extent of their legislative authority to actualize the national development issues raised by the delegation without any undue delay.
